Regina King Remembers Her Late Son on His “Worthday” and Celebrates His Life

Regina King, the award-winning actress and director, paid tribute to her late son Ian Jr. on what would have been his 27th birthday, one year after his passing. Ian Jr. was not only Regina’s son, but also a rising musician and social media influencer. However, on his “Worthday”, as Regina called it, she decided to share a touching post on social media to celebrate his life and the positive impact he had on her. In the post, Regina shared how Ian Jr. was “spread out across the globe” and that his favorite color was orange, which was also the color of the glowing lantern that was released into the sky in his honor. She expressed how she felt his presence in the air she breathed and how proud she was to be his mother, calling him the “God King.”

Regina’s post received an outpouring of love and support from her followers and friends, including Niecy Nash and Ava DuVernay. Nash wrote an open letter expressing her admiration for Regina’s strength in the face of such a loss, and DuVernay recited a moving poem about oranges.
