Simone Biles hits back at cruel trolls who criticized her appearance on her wedding day

Simone Biles has hit out at trolls who made cruel comments about her appearance on her wedding day.

The 26-year-old gymnast married NFL safety Johnathan Owens in an intimate ceremony on Saturday after announcing that the pair were engaged last year.

After the event, she took to social media to share some snapshots from the cremony with her 6.7 million followers.

“I do. Officially Owens,” Biles captioned a series of romantic images of herself and the Houston Texans player, 27, on Instagram.

Owens also doubled up on the occasion, posting a similar set of photos alongside the caption: “My person, forever” with a red heart and ring emoji.

The hashtags on the post read: “#TheOwens” and “#ItsOfficial.”

The Olympian stunned her fans in a four-tiered white gown which was reportedly worth only $120 – a fraction of the prices we’re used to seeing from other celebrities on their wedding days. Her look was paired with strappy sandals from Pretty Little Thing and her hair was pulled back into a tight pony-tail which brought some extra definition to her face – an iconic look indeed!

However, what was supposed to be a happy occasion was ruined by a handful of cruel trolls who decided to comment on Biles’ appearance on her big day, suggesting that she should have done something more with her hair.

Tweets stated that her hair “looked a mess” – which by the way, it did not – and some even went as far as telling people to stop being “fake positive.”

Fans of the star banded together to take down the haters.

“So nasty to see how many Black women are coming at Simone Biles’ hair in her wedding photos,” wrote one user. “There’s nothing wrong with her hair. It’s her natural hair & it looks healthy. I remember folks did the same thing to Gabby Douglas years ago… I guess some things never change…”

“People are really miserable. Out [here] talking about Simone Biles’ hair but she making her money and, found herself a man that loves her for her and, they are married. Some of y’all still be trying find a man that will do right,” this user added.

A third laid out the 26-year-old’s impressive resume, stating: “Imagine sitting on your a** criticizing Simone Biles. Simone is a history maker, Olympian, amazing woman, entrepreneur, beautiful woman, a beautiful soul… and all you can say is ‘she need to do her hair.’ Y’all are nasty as f***.”

Others raised the issue of policing Black women’s natural selves, whether it be in professional or personal settings – and the worst part is that in this case, a bulk of the hate seems to be coming from other Black women.

“We can’t complain when jobs force us to straighten our hair to look more ‘professional’ but then turn around and shit on Black women who wish to wear their hair any way they choose. Please leave Simone Biles Owens alone.”

And this user also added: “First Gabby Douglas, now Simone Biles… why can’t Black Women and their hair simply exist?”

And now the Olympic gold-medalist herself has spoken out.

Taking to Twitter, Biles replied to another tweet defending her appearance, saying: “I think they also forget I live in HOUSTON TEXAS & I sweat those out!! Soon as we stepped outside for pics but they can keep complaining idc idc idc.”

Regardless of the issue, the fact will always remain that Biles absolutely slayed on her big day. Period.
