Jeff Bridges says his tumor is now the ‘size of a marble’

Jeff Bridges has made the incredible announcement that his tumor is now “the size of a marble” following his cancer diagnosis in 2020.

The True Grit star made the announcement on Twitter when he was first diagnosed with lymphoma.

He wrote at the time: “As the Dude would say… New S**T has come to light. I have been diagnosed with Lymphoma. Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good. I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.”

The actor added: “I’m profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes.”

Lymphoma is a cancer that affects the body’s lymphatic system, per Mayo Clinic. It is in the lymphatic system that part of the body’s germ-fighting network is found.

The lymphatic system consists of the lymph nodes (lymph glands), spleen, thymus gland, and bone marrow. Lymphoma can affect all these parts of the body in addition to other organs.

In 2021, the 73-year-old wrote a note on his website where he revealed that the cancer was in remission and it had shrunk to the “size of a marble”.

The star recently sat down with AARP (The American Association of Retired Persons) to be featured in an edition of the magazine.

During the interview, he gave everyone much sought-after health updates including revelations about his struggle following a battle with Covid-19.

“I was doing those fight scenes for the first episode of The Old Man and didn’t know that I had a 9-by-12-inch tumor in my body,” Bridges said.

The actor was diagnosed with Covid at the same time as undergoing cancer treatment – which has made the recovery process a longer battle.

Bridges said: “A lot of getting better was a matter of setting really small goals. At first, they’d say, how long can you stand?”

The actor added: “For a while, my record was 45 seconds before I’d collapse. And then they were saying, oh, look, you’re standing for a minute! That’s so cool, now can you walk 5 feet?”

The legendary actor revealed that he was apprehensive about going to work after he considered the prospect that he might not make it through his health battles.

Bridges has been on the mend and has just begun filming the second season of The Old Man – showing that he is back in the business after his health scare.

Writing on his website, the actor has displayed incredible resilience in the face of adversity. “Life is brief [and] beautiful. Love is all around us, & available [at] all times,” he wrote.

Bridges continued: “It’s a matter of opening ourselves to receive the gift. We, (I) often want some other gift that life isn’t giving us. I mean, who would want to get cancer & Covid? Well… it turns out I would. I would, because I get to learn more about love, [and] learn things that I never would have if I never got it.”

The filming for The Old Man has since been paused due to the ongoing writer’s strike, but we can’t wait to see Bridges back on our screen soon!
