Davidson and his family had welcomed Henry at the start of the Covid-19 lockdown. He emotionally stated that he’s “not sure I’d even be around” without his furry buddy.

While the former Saturday Night Live star does not have social media, he shared the post on the Instagram page of his friend Dave Sirus – a writer on his new Peacock show Bupkis.

The Set It Up actor shared a series of pictures of him and his sister Casey with the adorable pet, showing them cuddling him and showering him with affection. There was also a snap of Davidson donning a face mask and holding Henry up to the camera, with the pooch sporting a shirt that reads “Good Dog”.

“Yesterday we lost a key member of the Davidson family,” the heartbreaking message read. “Henry was only 2 years old but unfortunately got very sick very fast.

“My mom, sister, and I got Henry at the beginning of the pandemic and he saved our lives. Not sure id even be around without him,” he continued.

Davidson recalled his precious bond with Henry and described him as “the was the happiest and sweetest dog ever,” explaining: “He used to get excited when he saw me and would pee everywhere.”

“When I was working at SNL my mom would send me videos of him watching, smiling, and making noise when I came on screen,” he added.

The comic revealed to readers that he still doesn’t like to watch his projects with anyone because he is “far too scared,” but said, “I didn’t mind watching with Henry”.

“He was truly the best,” he went on. “My mom, sister, and I are broken and will miss him forever. We love you, Henry. Thank you for making our lives fuller and reminding me what actually matters.”

The star’s post has been flooded with messages of support from people who know the pain of losing a pet. One user wrote: “Exactly EXACTLY feel your pain. My love Larry passed suddenly in August & we are STILL DEVASTATED. Maybe Henry is playing with LARRY.”

Another person said: “Oh Pete, we love you so much, sweetheart. I’m so sorry you’re hurting in this way. We lost our dear Bravo this year and it was devastating. Our hearts are with you, son.”

A third shared: “I’m so sorry. We had a Bichonpoo that saved us during COVID in sort of the same fashion. I feel for you and I’m so very devastated for you.”
