4-Year-Old Girl Undergoes Eye Surgery Because Her Parents Let Her Excessively Use This Thing

In the era of technological advancement, children have become fond of using gadgets, such as tablets and mobile phones. Today many parents would let their kids use electronic devices to keep them preoccupied, particularly if they are cranky or bored. Though it’s not right to judge parents based on how they raise their kids, it’s recommended that gadget use among children be limited.

A father, Dachar Nuysticker Chuayduang, from Thailand learned this lesson the hard way.

According to reports, he has let his daughter use the device since she was very young—at a tender age of two years old.

The little girl later was addicted to the smartphone and gradually, she developed a lazy eye when she was only four years old.

A lazy eye or amblyopia occurs when the vision becomes impaired but it cannot be corrected with the help of spectacles and is not caused by any eye disease.

The father further added that his daughter was given spectacles to improve her eye condition.

However, her eyesight became worse over time to the point where eye surgery was needed.

That was when he discovered that the reason for his daughter’s deteriorating eyesight was due to excessive exposure of smartphone.

Luckily, the surgery went well. She can now use both her eyes simultaneously. Doctors advised Dachar to ban her from using mobile phones and even watching the television.

Dachan’s post serves as a warning to other parents on limiting their kids’ screen time. His Facebook post has taken in over 12,000 likes and 62,000 shares so far.

In fact, children are allowed a maximum of two hours per day of screen time. For children between the ages of 2 and 5, experts say the recommended screen time is just one hour per day.
