Tyler Perry’s work is his life. So much so that people forget that the Hollywood heavyweight is also a father. While the identity of his baby’s mother is well documented, another woman appeared on Dr. Phil to declare that she is the birth mother of Perry’s son and that they have actually been married for years.
Tyler Perry has been involved in real life with a woman named Gelila Bekele. Bekele is a model and documentary filmmaker, according to her official website. She was born in Ethiopia and has lived worldwide, settling most recently in New York City after being signed to Ford Models. Outside of modeling, she has worked on films like Mai: Life is Not Honey and Ambessa. She also published a photography book called Guzo.Tyler and Gelila began dating in 2009. While never married, they had a very serious union that lasted over a decade.
During that time, they welcomed their son Aman Tyler Perry, born on November 30th, 2014. Due to their very busy schedules, Gelila had to tell Tyler she was expecting over Facetime. He gushed about her around that time, admitting, “There’s no other person on this planet that I would want to be involved with or have a child with because she’s amazing.” Perry has always been vocal about taking care of the people in his life. He admits that he planned on providing for Gelila for as long as she lived. When asked by T.I. if he planned to marry her, Tyler said, “I have someone who is wonderful, and she’s getting her share of all of it.”
