Yandy Smith Opens Up About Her Battle With Fibroids And Raises Awareness About This Often-Taboo Issue

Reality TV star and entrepreneur Yandy Smith-Harris recently opened up about her painful battle with fibroids on the podcast “Detox Living” with Coach Gessie and Angela Yee. Fibroids are largely benign tumors that grow in and around the uterine wall, causing outcomes that include excruciating pain, debilitating bleeding, blood clots, infertility, negative Black and Brown Maternal health outcomes, and more.

Yandy revealed that she initially reached out to Coach Gessie for her sister, who was experiencing issues with PCOS, fibroids, and endometriosis. However, in dealing with her sister’s health crisis, Yandy ended up on her own health journey. She shared that her fibroids began to degenerate and resulted in a hospitalization where she almost had to deliver her son Omere early.

Yandy’s fibroids were causing her significant pain and discomfort, and the medications that the doctor prescribed were hard on her. But she felt a significant difference when Coach Gessie put her on a fruit fast, and she started to feel healthier and more clear-minded within two weeks.

By sharing her story, Yandy is helping to raise awareness about this often-taboo issue and the options available to women who suffer from fibroids. Many women suffer in silence, not knowing that integrative solutions that combine nutrition, stress management, herbal supplements, and surgery when necessary can help reverse and prevent fibroids.

Fibroids disproportionately affect Black and Brown women, and it’s essential to have conversations about this issue to raise awareness and help women get the care and support they need. Yandy’s openness and vulnerability in sharing her story can inspire other women to seek help and take control of their health. We wish her a speedy recovery and hope that her story will help to break the silence surrounding this often-overlooked issue.
